For over 40 years our Chamber has represented and supported our diverse business sector. Our goal is to play a meaningful role in community growth and investment attraction.
Often known as “the voice of business” our work has ranged from helping the local First Nation community acquire modern administration offices, support for the County’s vibrant non-profit sector and dealing with workplace issues like diversity, safety and inclusion.
The Chamber is a key partner with local, provincial and municipal economic support organizations and with various government departments and offices. Our members value the extensive resources the Chamber provides.
Leadership examples:
Working with the Office of Regulatory Affairs and Service Effectiveness to bring solutions to Nova Scotia’s regulatory system.
The Chamber initiated the first ever project to help local businesses deal with the many social challenges in modern workplaces, Safety programs to deal with issues such as inclusion, mental health, and harassment.
Publishing a guide to help employers better understand and work with employees from the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Undertaking community-based research to determine and recognize the significant economic impact of the non-profit sector.
Creating a coalition of local businesses and government to build an energy efficient Band Office for Pictou Landing First Nation.
Actively participating in the recruitment and retention of physicians in partnership with Healthy Pictou County and the creation of the “Business of Medicine“ program.
