A Note from The Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration (LSI)
The Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration (LSI) continue to work with our partners at the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) to develop guidance and better supports for workplaces around Psychological Health and Safety in the workplace.
As part of this continuing work to increase these resources, we are pleased to highlight that our partners at the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) have recently launched a new site specifically designed to assist in this area called the Psychological Health and Safety Resources Centre found here: WCB Psychological Health & Safety Resources (worksafeforlife.ca).
The site has been developed to offer workplaces resources, key principals and best practices around Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. The content of this website is based on and adapted from the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (CSA Z1003) and additional information developed originally by WorkSafe Saskatchewan.
This Resource Centre website provides resources around the following:
Workplace Psychological Health and Safety: A closer look at the National Standard for Psychological Safety at Work, and the 13 psycho-social factors that support positive mental health.
Psychologically Safe Leadership: This section outlines the five domains that comprise psychologically safe leadership and provides valuable insights and action plans for leaders.
Tools and Resources: From new assessment tools to discounted educational resources and more, the Resource Centre provides practical solutions to support ongoing mental health initiatives.
This site will help protect Nova Scotians from the impact of new types of injury through tools and resources to help assist in building psychologically healthy and safe workplaces.
WCB has also produced a webinar that we would like to highlight that focuses on how to prepare your workplace around the topic and what employers can do:
Additionally, you can find a Healthy Workplaces Employer Toolkit available at: Healthy Workplaces Employer Toolkit (worksafeforlife.ca) , and you can also find even more information on NovaSAFE around Harassment and Violence in the Workplace at: Harassment and Violence | Nova SAFE.
We look forward to continuing to assist Nova Scotian workplaces with additional information around these topics as they are developed and released to Nova Scotians.
Sincerely,
Safety Branch
